Pheidole cf. koshewnikovi

General
Pheidole koshewnikovi is an easy species to care for. 

Food
Pheidole koshewnikovi are not picky eaters. They love sugars that come from fruit, sugarwater or ant jellys. For protein the best food for them is fruitflies, mealworms, crickets and other smaller insects. Feed them a lot of food and these ants will grow in large numbers fast!

If you feed insects from the wild freeze or boil these insects to sterilize them. Skipping this step can introduce mites to your colony.. 

Humidity
Pheidole koshewnikovi doesn't need high humidity. Hydrating the nest partially is more then enough.

Temperature
Pheidole koshewnikovi can benefit from higher temperatures. Heat one side of the nest to provide the ants with a nice gradient.

Don't heat the water source as the ants can drown in the condensation.

Hibernation
Pheidole koshewnikovi has a diapause from November until March.

Sting/bite
These ants can't bite or sting. 

We recommend very secure nests like the Esthetic Ants acrylic nests.

These ants are small and escape artists. We don't recommend these ants for beginners.
