  • Camponotus lateralis colonies are characterized by their polymorphic nature, with sizes ranging from 3.3-7mm. As a highly adaptable species, they thrive in areas abundant with shade and trees, utilizing their environment to establish nests and forage for food. Nuptial flights typically occur in April and May, contributing to the reproductive success and expansion of colonies. Despite their relatively small colony sizes of up to 200 workers in monogynous colonies, Camponotus lateralis forages solo and mimics the foraging trails of other species, such as Camponotus scutellaris, to collect food efficiently.
