The Medium Ytong Nest – Type A is a larger formicarium designed for growing ant colonies that require more nesting space while maintaining stable humidity. It builds on the same proven design as the Small Ytong Nest – Type A, with increased capacity for continued colony development.
Medium Ytong Nest - Type A
This nest features seven straight-shaped chambers carved into a Ytong block, providing an efficient and linear layout that supports brood organization and colony expansion. The porous Ytong material naturally regulates moisture, creating a stable and humid microclimate suitable for many ant species.
Moisture is added through the side-mounted hydration chimney, allowing controlled hydration without disturbing the colony. An escape-proof mesh is embedded into the frame, while a clear acrylic cover secured with screws provides visibility and protection. A red shield is included to reduce light exposure and support natural ant behavior.
This nest is designed to be used only in a vertical position.
