  • In nature, Camponotus texanus nests in dead wood, under bark, or within rotting logs, especially in semi-arid and forested areas. Colonies are monogynous, typically consisting of a single queen and polymorphic workers (minors, medias, and majors). They are primarily nocturnal foragers, searching for sugary substances and small insects in warm evening hours. Their natural range includes much of the southern U.S., with a focus on Texas and surrounding regions.
