Camponotus CA02 is one of the largest and most impressive ant species native to the United States. Known for its commanding size and powerful majors, this species is both beautiful and bold. With their black heads and orange-yellow abdomens, they’re a stunning addition to any serious ant keeper’s collection.
Camponotus CA-02
Camponotus CA02 lives in monogynous colonies, usually forming nests in soil, decaying wood, or under rocks. Colonies grow to around 5,000 workers, developing steadily over time. Workers range from 9–15 mm, majors from 17–22 mm, and queens can grow up to 24 mm. As the colony grows, their defensive instincts and hunting abilities become more pronounced, making them dominant within their habitat.
