Lepisiota frauenfeldi is also known as the European black crazy ant! It's a invasive species that spreads out over several continents. They dominate other colonies and are very fast and agressive. Not much is known about this species.

General
Caring for Lepisiota frauenfeldi  is not for the faint of heart. There are a few things you need to know before you start.

Food
Lepisiota frauenfeldi are not picky eaters. They love sugars that come from fruit, sugarwater or ant jellys. For protein the best food for them is fruitflies, mealworms, crickets and other smaller insects.

If you feed insects from the wild freeze or boil these insects to sterilize them. Skipping this step can introduce mites to your colony.

Humidity
Lepisiota frauenfeldi needs high humidity. Hydrating the nest partially is more then enough but hydrate it reguarly. Always make sure you have an external watersource in the outworld. 

Temperature
Lepisiota frauenfeldi benefits a lot from being heated. You can  heat a part of the nest to give the ants a nice gradient. 

Hibernation
Lepisiota frauenfeldi has no diapause. 

Sting/bite
Lepisiota frauenfeldi  can't sting. But they can swarm you if you come into contact with the colony. 

These ants are escape artists. It is best to keep them in a sealed nest like the Esthetic Ants acrylic nests.
