This highly adaptable species thrives in moist soil under rocks, leaf litter, and in irrigated gardens and plantations. Colonies are polygynous (multiple queens) and can reach thousands of workers quickly in captivity. Workers are tiny (3–4 mm), pale brown, covered with abundant erect pubescence and setae. They are highly efficient, fast foragers and demonstrate strong recruitment behavior, but are poor at defending food resources against competitors.

For keepers who enjoy fast-growing colonies and don't mind stringent escape prevention, N. jaegerskioeldi offers an exciting experience. Starter kits typically include multiple queens and workers, making them ready to thrive from the start. Though small, they require regular care and a secure setup—because of their invasiveness, release into the wild is illegal and ecologically harmful.

• Setup: Claustral founding; begin in test tube, then move to a medium to large formicarium with secure escape prevention.

• Environment: Maintain temperatures between 18–26 °C and humidity around 50–60% Antsrus.

• Diet: Provide sugar water or honey water and small insects like flies or fruit flies. They recruit quickly and consume food rapidly.

• Behavior & Growth: Colonies grow extremely fast; numbers can exceed 1,000 workers within months. Workers are fast-moving and aggressive toward other insects but rarely harmful to humans.
