Sand and substrate is a great way to create a more natural-looking outworld for your ants. It can be used in almost any medium or large outworld to improve the appearance, add texture, and give your ants a more realistic surface to walk on and explore.

Our substrate comes in a 240ml container. Depending on the type of substrate it varies in weight and volume. 
 
Please keep in mind that sand can change how your colony interacts with the outworld. If the sand becomes wet, ants may start digging in it. They may also move the sand onto liquid feeders, which can cause the feeder to leak into the outworld. In some cases, ants may carry sand into the nest and use it to cover themselves or block parts of the nest.
 
Because of this, we only recommend using sand in medium-sized or larger outworlds, where there is enough space to place feeders away from the sand and reduce the chance of problems.
